Confronting Racism in Durham – Video Series
Diversity & Inclusion Consultant & Lecturer Dean Delpeache
Participants will leave these sessions with an assured sense of correct terminology, and better understanding of fundamental issues. The goal is to create a brave space that helps to bring awareness and support behaviour change.
Creating Inclusive Workplaces Session
The video from an interactive 60-minute education session with Diversity & Inclusion Consultant & Lecturer Dean Delpeache examining the importance of Creating Inclusive Workplaces.
The goal of the session is to build openness and connection to increase belonging within the workplace. Discussion involves the traits of inclusivity, inclusive language and how to overcome microinequities that can hinder team progress.
Session Outcomes
- Understand the importance of inclusivity and having an anti-racist lens in today’s climate.
- Develop the characteristics to support manifesting inclusive behaviour.
- Gain knowledge of tools and resources to support inclusive language and build respect amongst teams and colleagues

The target audience for this workshop is employment service providers in Durham Region.
The video from an interactive 60-minute education session with Diversity & Inclusion Consultant & Lecturer Dean Delpeache discussing the importance of understanding the effects of implicit bias in the workplace.
Our environment and cultural differences shape our perceptions towards individuals which may lead to the negative effects of bias. This session was designed to equip team members with the knowledge and skills to deconstruct bias that support an inclusive and equitable workplace.
The goal of the session is to build openness and connection to increase belonging within the workplace. Topics discussed cover the traits of inclusivity, inclusive language and how to overcome microinequities that can hinder team progress.
Session Outcomes
- Understand the negative effects of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.
- Gain knowledge in cultural awareness to support inclusive interactions.
- Develop awareness around personal bias that hinder cross-cultural communication.
- Build skills to encourage positive cross-cultural working relationships.
For the last decade, Dean has been focused on talent management and creating frameworks of equity for organizations. Through his consultancy, Strasity, he helps organizations design strategic frameworks focused on Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity (DIBE).
Dean is also a Professor and Program Lead of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace program at George Brown College, and is a global conference speaker, delivering talks and workshops to both students and industry professionals. His passions for talent and DIBE have led him to become a vocal advocate for creating equitable workplaces. Dean possesses a Masters in Human Resources Management (HRM) and is completing his PhD in HRM from York University and has completed a Certificate program in Leadership and Inclusion at Centennial College.
